basicallly just a custom made lisence - send your picture and it says "is allowed to do anything they want for artistic reasons. keep itin your wallet. her answer was always the same "you can use your artistic lisence". so i got to thinking that this was actually at thing...

can they do anything they want "in the name of art" or anything they want when making an art piece - an important distinction to make. my grandma used to justify my artistic choices with the blanket reference "artistic lisense." I didn't much care for the sentiment as it often was a way of dismissing my very legitimate concerns. I don't think art pieces shouldn't be taken seriously - any deviation from the norm must be intentional. However, I've reimagined the concept to mean something equally valid but completely different. to me, artistic lisence means feeling like you have the right and ability to do anything that you want in the name of art. Just like that episode of family guy where Peter is allowed, no encouraged, to do many things he'd normally be banned from (like walking into the girl's bathroom), by claiming to be mentally retarded, artistic lisence produces a similar effect, allowing those who [own] it and produce it the ability to do anything they want. It follows, however, that an artistic lisence, like a driver's, food, or any other kind of lisence, must be earned and cannot just be given out hither thither.

Which brings us to the question - how can one earn an artistic lisence. Most likely by being committed to art

i like this idea especially because ..however artists should be held accountable. if they fail to...their lisence should be taken away. it's a serious thing, and even if that means they take it away themselves since there isn't and cannot be an artistic police besides oneself...
